Spring Trends…

It’s almost time to start revamping our closets for the sunny days up ahead.  Desperado’s own Sam Silva brings us up to speed on the latest fashion trends for 2020!

’70s & ’90s fashion are serving in 2020. Past trends are making an encore appearance this spring. We’re seeing flowery embroidery for our boho gals, fringe and flare for our cowgirls, and leather for our fashionistas.

Denim is the central focus for this spring. Strong ’70s references with flare jeans, embroidered denim shorts and jean jackets. The bohemian trends continue with everyone’s favorite high waisted jean. High waisted jeans might be one of the best trends to make a comeback; flattering on all body types and pairing well with tees and blouses as the weather gets warmer.

We all want to be more comfortable in our clothes, which is why it’s exciting we’re seeing more relaxing fits. One trend making a comeback this spring is the drawstring pant. In our store we already see it coming in with Driftwood’s camouflage, embroidered pant. Easy to pair with a colored top or your favorite hoodie. I’m sure we’ll be seeing more!

Another comfortable style is the “mom jean” a style that is usually high waisted, making your bum appear longer and flatter.  “Mom jeans” also have a relaxed fit around the zipper and leg area with long back pockets.  This silhouette is great for everybody. The “mom” look has become popular the past several years, and we do not expect it to go away just yet!

Boot-cut jeans are back in a big way. At Desperado we’ve always carried your classic boot cut. This spring we’ll be seeing more of it! Many boot-cut jeans are embroidered with colors and floral designs to give them a more feminine look. We will be seeing styles like a high-waisted, flared denim cinched at the waist with a narrow belt. Perfect to pair with your favorite brand tee and our awesome Söfft sneakers for daytime wear or pair with a statement belt, buckle and boots for a night at your favorite concert.  Our favorite boot picks – Liberty Black or Old Gringo of course!

If you haven’t grabbed your leather jacket yet, or just want another, now’s the perfect time. This trend is a wardrobe staple that can last years if you take good care of it. It’s the perfect layering piece for our cold nights and warmer days. Whether you’re looking for the classic black moto or hoping to find one a little more colorful, we have the best one for you! From yellow to fringe, you can’t go wrong with any of our Mauritius leather jackets.

Menswear inspired clothing is continuing into spring with blazers and trench coats. These pair well with your new relaxed fitting “mom jeans” to add some finesse to your outfit. We love this power dressing trend!

Make sure to stop by Desperado Boutique to see what new finds we bring home from market and follow our social media to stay updated!

Happy spring shopping, :)Sam… desperado diva!

Behind the Scenes @ LA Market by Haleigh Newbeck

We landed in LA early on a Saturday morning with high hopes of hitting a few famed shopping areas on Los Angeles.  “Research & Development”, as Joanne calls it.  We ended up spending a good chunk of the day walking Abbot & Kinney Boulevard, which is the claimed “coolest few blocks of America”.  Spring was in full effect inside all the cool LA shops, statement denim & slides team up to make for a perfect, plea for sunshine, ensemble. It’s pretty fun to people watch over some avocado toast and a Moscow Mule… fashion is at every turn in LA.  It’s a vast difference from our casual little city in the heart of the Oregon high desert.  Our shopping afternoon got us both really excited to shop for the store and to make summer and fall the best our clients have seen yet!

The LA Market is held in the fashion district of Downtown Los Angeles. An iconic area full of breathtaking Art Deco buildings & hipster cafes. We started off Sunday with lots of excitement, eager to see what fashion has in store for us. I feel pretty confident saying that the biggest trend for our up-coming seasons is positive 70’s glam. You’ll see lots of chartreuse, shades of green & pink, and yellow. With jaw-dropping outerwear leading the way, you’ll be more excited than ever to put a coat on and face the Fall & Winter weather of the high desert. Lines like Johnny Was and Dylan have really stepped up their game to brighten up a dark Winter wardrobe with unique embellishments & prints. There is also an abundance of positivity on the horizon in fashion. Statement tee’s & hoodies with the happiest of affirmations will be sure to be a necessary addition to your wardrobe. We went on a hat hunt & found the most perfect line for our store, Brooklyn Hat Co., they’re feminine & on trend with a fabulous low price point to boot!
We are really excited about some new lines that will be hitting the store starting in a few months. So stay patient, Summer will be here before you know it. Our fashion loving tanks were fully fueled this buying trip…anything goes in LA & we are totally okay with that.
