October ArtWalk with Mikki Krohn & Saving Grace

We caught up with Mikki recently and asked her about her work.  Mikki shared, “I have always been intrigued by color! As long as I can remember from a box of crayons to watercolors, acrylics, and in recent years yarn! Color has always been a source of enjoyment and relaxation!”

Many of us have enjoyed Mikki’s knitting for years and Desperado has been carrying her hand-knit beanies every winter.  They are now back in stock!

Mikki has also been painting portraits since her time as a school teacher decades ago.  “I have always loved doing portraits. When I taught, by the end of the year, every sixth grader went home with a portrait I had drawn for them.”   Since then Mikki has been painting her family and friends, “I have painted all my grandchildren and many other grandchildren.”  Mikki is available for commission work and also paints people’s pets and Santas.

Most recently she expanded her repertoire by working in acrylic landscapes, “I’ve discovered the beauty of central Oregon and I have enjoyed bringing acrylics to life in the landscapes I have found where I live. By combining my love of color, with the love of the things around me, from my students to Central Oregon has been a huge and satisfying part of my life.

Mikki’s paintings will be on sale at the store during our October First Friday Artwalk on Friday, October 4th from 5-7 pm.

Desperado will also host Saving Grace in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.  Come learn about this important resource in our community!
